About Ofsted

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. It reports directly to Parliament and is both independent and impartial. By law it must inspect schools with the aim of providing information to parents, to promote improvement and to hold schools to account.

Their role is to make sure that organisations providing education, training and care services in England do so to a high standard for children and pupils. Details on how Ofsted inspects schools and academies can be found here.

Parent View

Parent View gives you the chance to tell Herman Academy what you think about your child’s academy, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. The survey can be completed at any time; you don’t have to wait until the school is being inspected.

Herman Academy will use the data that you submit to help us make Herman even better and improve on the good results our recent parent survey gave us.

Do remember though that Parent View is operated by Ofsted and as such the responses you give are anonymous. If there is a particular issue that you’d like to address, please contact the academy office or speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team who will be at the pupil entrances each and every morning as usual.

You can find the Parent View here:

Ofsted Report 2022

“The very strong senior and middle leaders have been highly effective in securing improved outcomes for all groups of pupils in reading, writing and mathematics.

Pupils are well prepared for secondary school. Their skills and knowledge in reading, writing and maths are in line with age-related expectations and they have very positive attitudes to learning.

Good working relationships between adults and pupils inspire confidence among learners, with staff promoting a very positive ‘can do’ attitude among pupils by focused use of praise and encouragement.

The academy is a harmonious community. Pupils learn not just to be tolerant of different cultures but to embrace and celebrate them.

The extensive range of enrichment activities on offer excites pupils and raises their aspirations to learn.”
