Miss L. Back- Nursery Teacher (NQT)
I’ve been working in schools in Norfolk for the past 10 years in various roles including Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Parent Support Advisor. I completed my PGCE in 2018 through Suffolk and Norfolk Initial Teacher Training (Suffolk University). I am passionate about Early Years education and the importance of giving children the opportunity to be creative, independent learners.
Mr D.Berry- Year 4 Teacher
I have been a teacher for 10 years since completing my PGCE at the University of East Anglia. With family ties to the area I was keen to stay in Norfolk and so was delighted to be able to teach in the Great Yarmouth area. I have long believed in the concept of social mobility and regard education and our role as teachers as fundamental in achieving this.
Miss V. Boyd- Year 6 teacher/ Heartbeat Maths
Once I completed my training at Edge Hill University I decided to move to Norfolk to embark on the next journey of my career at Ormiston Herman Academy. As well as my classroom role I am also responsible for Physical Education and aim to share my enthusiasm for learning with the children.
Mrs A. Freel- Reception Teacher
I have been a qualified teacher for 4 years having completed my PGCE in Primary Education at UEA in 2012. I am passionate about helping children to become confident, independent learners from the very start of their educational journeys.
Miss J. Horton- Year 5 Teacher.
I am currently teaching in Year 3. I studied a degree in History and English at Greenwich University.
Mrs A. Humphrey- Teacher
I have been a primary school teacher for over twenty years. I have a degree in environmental science and am particularly interested in nature studies.
Mrs A. Jackson- Year 1 Teacher
Having completed a Psychology BSC (Hons) Degree and then PGCE at the University of East Anglia I started working at Herman nine years ago. Over these years I have worked between Nursery and Reception and became Early Years Leader five years ago. I thoroughly enjoy working in Early Years as it is a very important and interesting stage of development. I find it very rewarding to see how the children develop a love of learning and they progress and change so much from when they join us up to when they move on to Year 1.
Miss N. Karasava-Reception Teacher/ Heartbeat EYFS
After completing a BSC (Hons) degree in Sport Science at the University of Essex, I then went on to complete a PGCE at Anglian Ruskin University in Peterborough. I chose to return to Norfolk, where I grew up, and have been teaching at Herman since 2010. I attended Herman as a child, and so I feel very passionate and committed to ensure that children in the local area are given access to the education that they deserve and can achieve to their full potential .
Miss K. Meakins – Year 3 Teacher

Since joining Herman, I have been committed to providing greater opportunities for our children. Having been born and raised in Norfolk, I understand the importance of having a good education for every child. Now raising my own child, I continue to support the academy to aspire the children to reach their full potential.
Mrs M. Pierpoint- Year 2 Teacher
I have been teaching for over 15 years in a Suffolk school. Having recently crossed the border into Norfolk to join Herman Academy I am looking forward to working with the committed team of teachers in their aim for children to achieve their full potential as well as encouraging pupils to become happy, confident, independent learners who enjoy learning.

Mrs K. Redhead- Assistant Principal
I have been teaching since 1993, after completing a PGCE at Leicester University. Since then, I have taken on a number of class and leadership roles, including a Deputy Headship, for over 10 years. Having taken time out to have my youngest child, I returned to teaching 3 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed becoming a part of the dedicated and hard- working team at Ormiston Herman Academy. As well as my classroom role, I am also responsible for coordinating PSHE. I am committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.
Mrs L.Roberts- Year 1 Teacher
I have been a qualified teacher for 6 years having completed a B.Ed in Primary Education at the University of Bedfordshire. I have taught in Early Years and Key Stage one throughout my time here at the academy. I am dedicated to helping all children achieve their goal of a good education here at Ormiston Herman Academy.
Mr A. Shreeve-Year 3 Teacher
I began working at Ormiston Herman Academy in 2011 after completing my BSC (Hons) degree in Sport, Health and Exercise at the University of East Anglia. I am actively involved in Physical Education within the school and aim to share my passion of sport with the children.
Miss C. Smith- Year 6 Teacher
I completed my teacher training in 2016 with Suffolk and Norfolk Initial Teacher Training (University of Suffolk) and began working at Ormiston Herman Academy once I qualified. Having taken a year out to teach in Australia, I have returned to the Academy and look forward to working in Year 6 to build enthusiastic, independent learners and I shall be participating in the extra curricular activities of drama and performance.
Mr M. Thorpe- Vice Principal
I started working at Herman Middle School ten years ago and have since seen the changes to Herman Primary and now Ormiston Herman Academy. During my time here I have had responsibility for PE and, for the last four years, Mathematics. I remain determined to ensure that all children have the chance to reach their full potential and, in my position as Vice Principal, I look forward to providing the opportunities for all children to achieve success.
Mrs J. Upton- Year 2 Teacher/ SENCO
I have been working at Herman since 2010 in Early Years and Key Stage one. Coming from a family with long standing links with the Herman schools, and as an ex pupil myself, I am committed to ensuring children in our local area are given access to the education they deserve.
Mrs A. Jacobs- Finance Assistant
I was born in Liverpool and spent the first fifteen year of my life moving around the northwest and north Wales with my family. We moved to Norfolk when I was fifteen and I have been here ever since. All of my working life has been in finance. My first experience of Herman was when I came for an interview for Finance Officer in 2012. I was immediately impressed with the atmosphere and ethos of the school and was very pleased to accept the job when it was offered. Changing to an Academy in 2014 has meant a lot of changes to my role but has also led to some very interesting times. I look forward to continuing in my role and playing my small part in the continued success of Herman.
Mrs P. Milham- Family Support Officer
My name is Paula Milham. I have been working at the school for the past 14 years in a number of roles initially as a lunchtime MSA, moving on to Office Assistant which then evolved onto a Pastoral Support worker, Parent Support Adviser and now Family Liaison Officer.During my roles I have undertaken many supportive courses which include TA NVQ 3, Norfolk Steps to positive handling training, Helping children cope with bereavement, Solihull Approach – The school years, ELSA – (Emotional literacy Support Adviser) and Lead Worker/Family Support Panel Process training.This role is both rewarding and a privilege for me to be able to work with the families and children of Ormiston Herman Academy and offer a listening ear and support whenever it is needed.
