At the end of the last academic year, Miss Manifold and Mrs Speed applied to the Tesco Bags of Help programme for a grant to fund the redevelopment of the pond and outdoor learning space at Ormiston Herman Academy. We are very excited to announce that their application was successful and has now progressed to the next stage. This means that it will now go to a public vote, in the form of token drop-boxes, in our local Tesco stores. The token drop boxes will be available in stores between Monday 31st October to Sunday 13th November, and all shoppers will be issued with a token to award to their chosen project to help choose who should win the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 416 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. In total, there is over £12.5 million up for grabs.
We are looking to all parents, carers and friends of the school to help spread the word about this amazing opportunity. We would really value your support in helping us collect as many tokens as possible to help us fulfill our ambition of offering a fantastic outdoor learning space. We will keep you fully updated, both through our school website and our Twitter account, about the developments of this exciting project once the token drop boxes become available in Tesco stores.
