Last week Key Stage two were very fortunate to participate in a taster session of a flag form of American football.
What is Flag Football?
Flag football is a version of American football or Canadian football where the basic rules of the game are similar to those of the mainstream game, but instead of tackling players to the ground, the defensive team must remove a flag or flag belt from the ball carrier (“deflagging”) to end a down.
Miss Allen, who organised the sessions said; ” It was so good to see so many of the pupils giving it a go and getting stuck in, they thoroughly enjoyed it! It was a successful day and we are hoping to run it as a club.”
Positive comments also came from the children who took part, Jadyn said; ” I learnt how to hold the ball for American football. I thought it would be like tag rugby but it was quite different. I really enjoyed it!”
Another pupil, Connor, added; ” It was really fun because everyone got the chance to play.”
