Pupils at Ormiston Herman Academy have kicked off their Sports Relief fund raising campaign in a big way during Friday’s Herman Bake Off.
Pupils from Reception to Year 6 raised over £95 in the space of only a few minutes by voting for their favourite cake as created by the Herman Catering Team. The cakes were presented to the children in assembly and at the end of which the children were asked to place small change into voting jugs to indicate which one they thought was best.
Mark Thompson, Vice Principal, said, “Since my time at Herman I have continually impressed by the generosity of parents and children. Every time the children have been asked to help others less fortunate than themselves, they have exceeded expectations in going the extra mile to make sure that Herman’s reputation for supporting charity is upheld.”
The Bake Off was won by catering manager Julie Rudd and her gigantic jaffa cake and wagon wheels. All the children in the academy enjoyed the cakes during their afternoon enrichment time.
