“Super Scarecrows!” says Mayor

Posted on: May 22, 2014

Nursery’s competition, involving parents helping their child make a scarecrow, by using recycled materials, has proven to be a huge success! With a tremendous 31 entries being received from both classes the competition was intense! Families used duvets, old clothes, bottles, paper mache and straw to create their scarecrows. Judging took place on the Academy’s Launch day with special guests, His Worship John Burroughs, accompanied by his wife Jenny, picking out the winning creations. Congratulations go to Jamie and Lydia from the morning entries and Harry and Alfie  from the afternoon. A big thank-you to everyone who participated in this competition and made it such a successful event!

Miss A. Smith, Acorn Nursery’s Teacher, said: ” We have been absolutely delighted with the response to the competition, the children have worked really hard with their families to create such wonderful characters. We were so pleased to have so many of the parents saying how much they enjoyed making them with their children. The scarecrows look wonderful out in the garden and we think our crops are safe from the birds.”
