On the 1st April some parents took part in a cookery workshop, run by the school cook and Mrs Milham. This session focused on desserts; toffee cream tart and chocolate oat cakes, two old school favourites.
These workshops take place every six weeks ( 2 sessions), held in the school kitchen from 2-3 pm. The hourly sessions consist of the cook demonstrating the recipes, where parents are invited to ask any questions as the cooking is taking place. Parents are then invited to taste the food and make comments/ suggestions about the recipes.
Favourite dishes cooked so far have included Lasagne and chicken balls. Parents can become more involved by suggesting recipes for the cook to try out; their names will then appear under their recipe in the cookery workshop folders, which can be purchased for £2 each. Also available now are double sided A4 recipe sheets which cost 30p each. The sessions focus on either starters, mains or desserts.
Parents said they had tried making some of the dishes at home and they found the workshops informative and enjoyable.
