Vision and Values

At Ormiston Herman Academy, our aims are:

  • To create a safe, happy, and healthy environment where children feel positive about themselves and their academy.
  • To create a community where everybody is valued and respected.
  • To develop a culture and environment of challenge, where achievement, at all levels, is valued and celebrated.
  • To ensure that high standards of teaching and learning are consistently delivered, in order that all pupils can reach their full potential through our broad, balanced, and creative curriculum.

We are committed to providing teaching and learning experiences that are enjoyable, challenging, and relevant to the needs of all children.

Pupils have opportunities to learn independently and to develop their own creative ideas. Celebrating success is essential to our school family. Indeed, we seek to recognise and celebrate all successes (both inside and outside of school).

We are a values-led organisation, and it is our aim that we continually challenge ourselves to adhere to the spirit of the Ormiston Academies Trust values.

We strive to develop the following skills and values in all children:

  • For children to be independent learners and thinkers.
  • To promote curiosity and inspire a love of learning.
  • To provide a fun, varied and appropriate curriculum for all.
  • For children to value themselves and others.
  • To foster a sense of belonging to a community where home and school work closely together.
  • For children to learn about and nurture the environment.
  • To learn and use skills that will help to become good citizens.

We are proud that our aims tie-in closely with our sponsor’s aims and mission statement:

“Our mission is to become the Trust that makes the biggest difference, both inside and outside the classroom.”

It is our aim that we continually challenge ourselves to adhere to the spirit of our values:

  • Anyone can excel.
  • Enjoy the challenge.
  • Share what is best.
  • Be inclusive.

We believe in celebrating success in all areas of the lives of our children. We do this as a whole school, through such things as promoting and rewarding good attendance, themed challenges, Golden Book Awards and Star of the Week certificates. Each class also celebrates successes daily through the use of marbles, stickers, certificates, phone calls, photographs and in many other ways.
