Paddington Day has been an extremely exciting occasion! The children have enjoyed participating in a wide range of relevant activities including tasting marmalade, making sandwiches and learning all about Peru.
All classes were very lucky to attend a special Paddington talk which was delivered by Mrs Manifold who is an avid collector or Paddington merchandise. Mrs Manifold shared some stories about her collection and told the children which bear, out of her collection of 15, was her favourite and why!
As well as this, all the children have been involved in making Paddington’s favourite delicacy- marmalade sandwiches. For some individuals, it was their first time tasting marmalade and whilst some pupils did not enjoy it, most of them ate a whole marmalade sandwich! Year 6 took this activity a step further by trying out different bread/ marmalade combinations including saville orange, lemon and lime and brioche and fruit bread.
Mrs Bird (the Brown’s house keeper) attended the Academy today in order to deliver a special Assembly to the children. She told them all about her friend Paddington and his favourite activities. She also set all the boys and girls a special research challenge- the find out facts about Peru, Paddington station and mathematical problems involving wellington boots!
After assembly it was time for the special lunch! The children enjoyed tasting the Paddington themed treats which included Knuckle’s McGinty’s sausages and a delightful marmalade creation for dessert.
A huge thank you to all the parents and carers for going to such an effort to arrange costumes and accessories!
