Reception Story Cafe Success!

Reception had their first story cafe on ‘Superworm’ by Julia Donaldson.
After the teachers read the story, parents and children engaged in numerous activities following on from the story. These involved creative activities such as making superworms with different media, decorating biscuits with “soil and worms” (chocolate icing and jelly worms!), using playdough to make what Superworm did in the story, reinforcing name writing on worm rings, and reinforcing the letter “S” the children have been learning about in their letters and sounds, along with having a real wormery in class to observe!
“Superworm starts with a S”, said Regan.
Mark Thompson, Vice Principal, said “It is essential that children are developing a love of reading from an early age with the support of their parents. Events like this are a great forum through which strong home-academy learning partnerships can be established.”
Natalie Allen, EYFS lead, commented “Children make the best progress in all their Early Learning Goals when their learning is supported at home in partnership with the academy. I would like to thank all the parents who attended for their support.”
