Yesterday, Year 1 were visited by Robert the fire safety officer for Norfolk. The children were spoken to about safe and unsafe fire starters, especially being safe with matches, as well as ways to keep safe around fire. A discussion was had about what the fire brigade does in Norfolk and what to do in an emergency. Robert showed the children a film about Freddie and Filbert then spoke about fire plans and smoke alarms in our houses. The children looked at some smoke alarms and the noise they make. Smoke alarms should be tested every week. Some children had the chance to wear the fireman’s outfit and there was a competition to see who could get dressed the quickest! Overall it was a very fun way to learn about fire safety!
