One of our Senior Year children is celebrating her 5th year as head of the family run business Tia’s Treasures.
The business, which Tia tells us was started because she “was bored”, sells bespoke and custom made jewellery with profits being regularly donated to charity. “My mum banned me from using glitter at home as I used to make a mess. I really enjoy making things so I started making bracelets instead,” Tia said. Her talent in art and design became immediately apparent and her mum suggested that she should start a business selling what she was making. “Mum gave me some ideas for the name of the business but I wanted to have my own name in the title and the ‘treasures’ part reflects the things that I make.”
Tia regularly has a stall at Herman’s termly fayres and her products are purchased by consumers of all ages. “I wanted to use the money that I make for a good purpose so I started donating to charity. Amongst the good causes we have worked with is CLIC Sargent which aims to support children and young people with cancer. Over the past 5 years the charity has raised over £5000- what an achievement!
Looking to the future, Tia would like to develop her business further by combining her love of pets, arts and jewellery. “I have already designed my dad’s tattoo that he has on his arm. He wanted a spider so I drew him a tarantula which he took to a tattooist and is now a piece of my art he wears permanently!”
We wish you and your business well for the future, Tia! Looks like you’ve got some exciting ideas for your next steps!
