Year 1 Deep Sea Explorers

Posted on: October 16, 2019

This half term Year 1 have been learning around the theme of ‘Under the Sea’! The children have been some exciting discoveries in The Curiosity Cave! One week there was a magic clam shell found with a letter from Tiddler, a character from one of our favourite books. We helped Tiddler to learn more about his under the sea friends and we learnt lots of facts about sea life! Another time we discovered a poster in the clam shell advertising David Attenborough’s documentary ‘The Blue Planet’. We watched some clips and we made our own posters about keeping the sea creatures safe by not dropping litter on the beach! There have been many other things we have learnt about around our theme of under the sea including all about the five oceans of the world in geography! We can’t wait to find out what discoveries are made in The Curiosity Cave next term!
This half term’s story cafe was around our learning theme of ‘Under the Sea’. We read the story “Winnie and Wilbur Under the Sea” about the book character Winnie the Witch. We made different kinds of sea creatures that were from the illustrations of the book.
